Information on the operation of cookies – pursuant to art. 13 EU Regulation 679/2016

Below we inform you in a transparent manner about the operation on this website (hereinafter “Site”) of the so-called cookies in compliance with Directive 2009/136/EC and related provision of the Privacy Guarantor n.229/2014.

1 – Definition of “cookie”

Cookies are short fragments of text (letters and/or numbers) sent by the Site and stored by your browser on the specific device you use (computer, tablet, smartphone) and contain information to be reused during the same visit to the site or later, even after several days. Cookies are stored based on the user’s preferences.

Furthermore, with the introduction of HTML5, various forms of local storage and similar technologies are available, such as, for example, web beacons and transparent GIFs, which can be used to collect information on the user’s behavior and choices and on the use of services.

In this document, for the sake of simplicity, we will use the term “cookie” to refer to cookies and all similar technologies.

Typically, cookies can be installed:

  • directly by the owner and/or manager of the website (so-called first-party cookies);
  • by managers external to the website visited by the user (so-called third-party cookies). Unless otherwise specified, please note that these cookies fall under the direct and exclusive responsibility of the same manager. Further information on privacy and their use can be found directly on the websites of the respective managers.

This website may use, also in combination with each other, the following types of cookies classified according to the indications of the Privacy Guarantor and the Opinions issued in the European context by the Working Group pursuant to art. 29 of the GDPR:

1) Session, are cookies that are not stored persistently on the user’s computer and are deleted when the browser is closed, they are strictly limited to the transmission of session identifiers necessary to allow safe and efficient exploration of the site, avoiding the use of other IT techniques potentially prejudicial to the confidentiality of user navigation.

2) Persistent, are cookies that remain stored on the computer’s hard drive until they expire or are deleted by users/visitors. Through persistent cookies, visitors who access the site (or any other users who use the same computer) are automatically recognized at each visit. Visitors can set their computer browser to accept/refuse all cookies or to display a warning each time a cookie is proposed, in order to evaluate whether to accept it or not. The user can, however, change the default configuration and disable cookies (i.e. block them permanently), by setting the highest level of protection.

3) Technical, are cookies used for authentication, to use multimedia content such as flash player or to allow the choice of navigation language. In general, it is therefore not necessary to acquire the user’s prior and informed consent. This category also includes cookies used to statistically analyze accesses/visits to the site only if used exclusively for statistical purposes and through the collection of information in aggregate form and Analytics cookies that do not allow unique identification (for example by masking the fourth component of the IP) limited to data for traffic monitoring (geographical area, time slot, pages visited), without comparison with other data that actually allow unique identification

4) Non-technical, are all cookies used for profiling and marketing purposes. Their use on users’ terminals is prohibited if they have not first been adequately informed and have not given valid consent according to the opt-in technique. These types of cookies can, in turn, be grouped according to the functions they perform in:

  • Analytics. These are cookies used to collect and analyze statistical information on accesses/visits to the website. In some cases, associated with other information such as credentials entered to access restricted areas (your email address and password), they can be used to profile the user (personal habits, sites visited, content downloaded, types of interactions performed, etc.).
  • Widgets, this category includes all those graphic components of a user interface of a program, which have the purpose of facilitating the user in interacting with the program itself. For example, widgets are cookies from Facebook, Google+, Twitter.
  • Advertsing, this category includes cookies used to advertise within a site. Google, Tradedoubler fall into this category.
  • Web beacons, this category includes code fragments that allow a website to transfer or collect information through the request of a graphic image. Websites can use them for various purposes, such as analyzing the use of websites, monitoring and reporting on advertising and customizing advertising and content.

3 – Cookie Management

The user can also decide whether or not to accept cookies using the settings of their browser.

The setting can be defined specifically for different websites and web applications. Furthermore, the best browsers allow you to define different settings for “proprietary” cookies and for “third-party” cookies. Through the options menu of the browser in use, you can manage and define whether or not to accept the different types of cookies and proceed with their removal.

Warning: the total or partial disabling of technical cookies may compromise the use of the features of the areas of the site reserved for registered users. On the contrary, the usability of public content is possible even by completely disabling cookies. Disabling “third-party” cookies does not affect navigability in any way.

We also remind you that by completely disabling cookies in the browser, the user may not be able to use all the interactive features.

4 – Communication and dissemination of data

The data collected using cookies may only be processed by specifically appointed personnel and by data controllers. Furthermore, such data may be communicated to third parties, only if specifically appointed as data controllers, for the execution of certain services connected to existing relationships (e.g. consultants, service companies).
The data collected using our own cookies will not be disseminated and will not be transferred to third parties. The data collected using third-party cookies may be transferred outside the European Union, in particular to the United States of America.

5 – Rights of the interested party

You may exercise your rights towards the data controller at any time, pursuant to articles 15-22 of EU Regulation 679/2016 (GDPR), and in particular the rights of access, rectification, integration and, in permitted cases, the portability of the data provided, in addition to obtaining the cancellation, limitation or opposition to the processing of the Data for legitimate reasons. As well as the right to complain to the Guarantor Authority pursuant to art. 77 of EU Regulation 679/2016 (GDPR), also by contacting the Data Controller or the DPO, where appointed, using the methods indicated below:

  • by sending a registered letter with return receipt to the address of the Data Controller indicated below;
  • by sending an email to [email protected] for the appointed DPO.

In order to ensure the protection of your personal information, we may need to request specific additional information from you to confirm your identity and ensure that only those persons who have a right to receive such communications have access to the information (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is another appropriate security measure to protect your personal information.

Requesting access to your personal information (or to exercise any of the rights set out above) is free of charge. However, if your request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, we may charge a reasonable fee taking into account the administrative costs of providing the information, or refuse to comply with your request in such circumstances.
